Twitter has announced that it will pay certain users who place ads in comments. Elon Musk announced the news through a tweet, stating that the payment will be made within a few weeks. The allocated amount for the first payment group was announced as five million dollars. Musk also added a note under the tweet, revealing the users who will receive this payment. Which users will benefit from this payment?
Only verified content creators will receive payment!
The users who will receive a share from the five million dollars payment will consist solely of verified users, as seen in Musk’s tweet. This new feature is expected to help content creators earn money from their content and increase interaction on Twitter.
Twitter’s payment feature for content creators includes placing ads in comments on verified content creators’ tweets. This means that when a user comments on such a content creator’s post, the comment may contain an advertisement. The verified content creator who sent the tweet will be able to receive a portion of the revenue generated from this ad.
Currently, this feature only applies to verified content creators in the United States, but it is expected to expand to all countries in the future. This new feature is expected to have a mutual advantage for content creators and advertisers.
What problems could this feature pose?
Although the feature offers benefits such as content creators earning money from Twitter content and advertisers reaching a larger audience, there are also potential negative consequences. Some content creators may excessively promote ads, thereby limiting interactions with other users’ posts. Alternatively, users may find these ads excessive, not wanting to engage with the posts, resulting in decreased organic interactions.
How to become a verified content creator?
To become a certified content creator, one must apply to Twitter’s Amplify Publisher Program. This program is designed for publishers, broadcasters, and other media brands to monetize their content on Twitter. The requirements for content creators to join the program are as follows:
- The content creator must be 18 years or older.
- The Twitter account must be in good standing.
- The Twitter account must be among the verified accounts.
- They must be an active Twitter video broadcaster.
- Currently, only publishers working with Twitter Partner Managers can apply to the Amplify Program. Twitter also stated that it reserves the right not to display ads on content it deems unsuitable for advertisers.
